I am trying to be a lot more thoughtful about my gifts this year by focusing closely on who I am giving gifts to, what they do or don't like, what they may need, and even something extra sappy.

I have fallen victim to the "gift card for everyone," mentality. However, that isn't really the point of giving a gift. They are supposed to be something special, and even something they have always wanted to needed. It could something as simple as a note, or as big as a dog (hint, hint).

I do want to give people something nice and practical, but since I am not the master of all trades, I will be buying some gifts, while making others. With that said, I have broken some gift ideas into categories and created handy gift guides for each. Hope they are helpful, and remember it's the thought that counts.
