Quick, Delicious, Flakey Pie Crust

We aren't one of those families who has things like vegetable shortening or buttermilk on hand. Let's be honest, I am not that experienced as a cook to need those kinds of things on a regular basis. However, when I make a pie or pot pie, nothing beats a homemade, buttery, flakey crust.

Here is my go to recipe for a pie crust in a jiffy!

What you'll need…
2 1/2 cups flour (i really just eyeball it here)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup cold butter
1/2 cup ice water (sometimes I add a tad more to make it easier to roll out)
* if you are making pot pie you can also add some rosemary into your crust for a herby flavor *

What you'll do…
combine flour and sugar in bowl.
using your hands mix butter into flour and sugar. Once mixture is crumbly, add water. Mix until well blended.
separate into two balls of dough.
* if you only need one pie crust you can save the other ball of dough for another pie *
roll out each ball of dough, one for the top of the pie, and one for the bottom.
* poke holes into the bottom pie crust + slit the top pie crust to let out steam (i do four slits towards the top center of the pie) *
Bake @ 425 degrees for 15-25 minutes.
* keep on eye on those fluted edges. if they start to brown too fast you can always cover them with foil. *
