We're fine...

You know those moms in the huge SUVs that zoom into a parking spot because they're late?

You know, the one's with the massive sunglasses that mask any sign of emotion that might be laying underneath. Maybe she is exhausted? Maybe she is crying? Nobody really knows...

The kind of mom with the a Starbucks, Corkile, Yeti, HydroFlask, or any other giant tumbler you can think of in their hand?

These moms can somehow make a topknot, Uggs, and leggings look anything but # basic college girl. They're more..."at least I'm not in my pajama pants chic."

Well, I'm one of those moms now. So that's cool. It's fine. I'm fine. We're fine...

Budgeting while on family vacation

Summer is just around the corner, and that's usually when people start going on family trips! Yay summer...but whoa says my bank account!

It can be an expensive time for families. We are trying to keep the kids entertained, getting them in summer classes or summer camps, taking them on family vacations, or even just trying to make the day to day fun.

Something I know we spend a lot of money on is food. Groceries are expensive, and even more so when you're feeding growing kiddos. Something that we try to do is reduce the number of meals we eat out. That is a huge budget suck for us. It really ups the price on our monthly food bill, and it's something that is nice every so often, but quite frankly it's not something we should be doing frequently. My husband has taught me this...thanks for making me better babe!

So now that I have set the preface up, let's move on to saving money whilst on family vacation! We are on a little family trip for a few nights, and we made sure to get a spot that has a kitchen. This way we can cook our own meals! We will venture out for a meal or two, getting a taste of the local food culture, but not overspending where it's unnecessary.

Prior to leaving our house, I meal planned our three day-two night trip. I purposely selected family dinner options that could be made ahead of time, frozen, and put into the slow cooker. Note- if you can't find a place with a kitchen, bring yourself a slow cooker!

I prepped each dinner, put them into freezer bags, and popped them into the cooler for the drive to our little family vacay spot. Then, when we arrived to our destination, I popped them back into the freezer, and snagged the rest of the perishables I couldn't bring or pack from the cheapest grocery spot. Bam. Money saved. To my husband, you're welcome. To my kids, that's a few extra pennies for your college fund.

Sold out

I have had bedding sitting in my cart since, well, forever. I just cannot, for the life of me, click "order." I'm not sure if it's because bedding seems to be ridiculously overpriced, or because I always find the perfect cheaper option on Target's website, only to read "sold out," when I select the item I want.

The dreaded words. Sold + Out. Two words that make me say "why-y-y-y-y." With the longest y dang on I can give!

I guess Target isn't like crack for moms only. It's crack for everyone. With their incredibly curated goodies and too cheap to beat prices. Damn! Why couldn't I have been the mastermind behind that store?

Saggy Knees

Howdy, ya'll!

I looked down at my knees today. They've been hiding under long pants for 8 whole months, people. To my surprise they are starting to look saggy...

Remember how I was wishing for the warmer months... well, never mind.

I take it all back. We can keep these saggy knees hidden for friggin' ever.

Yuck.

Also, I've been getting asked about what self tanner I use. I found a green one (meaning clean) and it was out of stock, but now its back in stock, and I legit bought 3 bottles because I never want to be out of it again. It's that good!

a 20-somethings' dream vs. a 5-years-olds' dream

Picture's caption- The saying goes, “don’t air your dirty laundry ” We have to have messes to be grateful for the clean. Similarly, we have to face trials or sorrow to know joy. Life isn’t about happily ever after, it’s about making each day happy

My son told me about his dream this morning. He came out of his room, his smile so big you could see the smile shining through his eyes. He said, "Mom, I had a dream that you and Dad made Chinese food. I tried it, and... I liked it! It was so cool, Mom. I tried it and it was good!"

Well...imagine that son!

Funny, because I also remembered my dream! I legit dreamt I was in an all black tinted Mercedes. I sped to pick up my son from school. That was it. My whole dream. Dream big, folks. Dream big.

I only what could our subconscious' are trying telling us? That we need to make Chinese food and buy a pimped out Mercedes? I'll take it!

I had big plans for today

I had plans to wake up before the kids and get a workout in. Then, we all got these awful colds. No one got any sleep, and waking up before the kids sounded like torture.

I had plans to pick up groceries right at 8AM, but the only time left for pick up was after 3PM. Cool. So, in traffic we will sit. On a freeway that has nearly every exit ramp closed.

I had plans to order some new bedding, but I simply cannot decide what type to order.

I wanted to tidy the house in it's entirety, but instead, somehow got stuck cleaning every toy basket in the whole dang house. You know, that super deep time consuming spring kinda clean. Of course, I ended up doing an invisible task. One, that makes no immediate difference to the messy state of our house, and one that will probably be to waste the second my kids take note that I've correctly organized each bin. Blocks with the blocks. Babydoll toys with the babydoll toys. Legos... well legos just about anywhere else except the dang floor!

Oh motherhood, this is what you've made of me? Why couldn't you have given me a superhero power like cleaning everything in a flash, or at least remembering things... wait there are some parts of motherhood best forgotten. Like, when you're giving birth...
