Pregnancy Reading List + Hyperemesis Gravidarum

I know I haven't shared a ton about this pregnancy. Honestly, with taking care of my other kids and being so sick I can't do much, and I certainly am not in a place to make jokes.

Today, I received a text from a good friend of mine. She's currently pregnant, and experiencing severe morning sickness. She was looking for advice on how to make it through the constant nausea. My first response was to apologize. I wouldn't wish hyperemesis gravidarum on anyone. You want to take it from them, but you can't. Then, I offered the next best thing. I told her, "load your other kids into the car. Take them to a McDonald's drive thru. Order them fries, and get yourself a large Coke. A few sips in, your stomach will find some relief. It won't heal you, but it will help. Both you and your kids will feel better."

It's a small win, but when you're that sick a small win is better than nothing. Lastly, I told her the truth. I told her that being that sick for that long breaks me every time. It's hard to explain if you haven't personally gone through hyperemesis gravidarum, but it really is a mind eff. I would take one day at a time, and pray relief would find me soon. If you are in the same boat, don't give up hope. Hold on to the idea that one morning you will wake up and feel better. Hyperemesis gravidarum truly is just a season.

You've got this mama!
