Today, I held Aida Mae in my arms while she napped. It was glorious. Moments like those are the ones I live for. It's the kind of treasure I could have easily missed if I didn't catch that she had sleepy eyes. If I was busy chasing things that don't matter or staring at my phone I would have missed the moment entirely. Instead, I was present. I was folding laundry when she came into the room. I lowered myself to her level and looked at her while she talked to me. It was then that I noticed her heavy eyes. I stopped what I was doing, scooped her into my arms, and rocked her.
I am grateful I paid attention and that just hours before I had made a decision to be more intentional with my time. I'm also grateful for the blessings that have come from that choice.
Later, we prayed and chatted as a family. DC sang us his favorite country song. We played a few board games, and ate buffalo dip.
We had a good friend watch the kids so the mister and I could get burgers and look for some good books at Barnes and Nobles.
On the way home from our date, the mister took my hand and said, "Thank you for setting this up. It was so nice to spend time with you." He is wonderful and I am the luckiest.
Now, it's time for a cuddle sesh with the mister and an episode of Friends. Goodnight, ya'll.
Today was a simple day, but it was a great one.
