Being Inspired by Stay-at-home-moms

Lately, I have found myself looking at women around me and feeling inspired by their greatness.

There are so many women who do incredible things, and frankly, I have had some feelings of inadequacy creep in while admiring such amazing women I get to follow via social media. Some of my own friends and family are also just as inspirational. With lawyers and doctors and such around me I began to feel like maybe what I was doing was lax in comparison. Who is looking up to stay-at home-moms? Why look up to me, when there are women attending ivy leagues, building civil liberty cases, and saving lives?

Then I realized something. It is because of women like me, stay-at-home moms, that there are such amazing women roaming society today. Like a teacher, a stay-at-home mom is a full time career far underpaid and unrecognized by our society. Does that make us dispensable? Not for a second. Without us society would lose a crucial and beautiful part of its make-up. It would lose the love and the happy people we immerse into it.  We embody selflessness as we strive to ensure the happiness and greater good of our children.

Many of you, like me, gave up your careers, your education, your own path and created a new one to fit and focus on your children. Some may say that is stupid, or naive, even that we are "taking the easy way out," when, to the contrary, it is the hardest thing we've ever had to do. We forget ourselves completely to be patient, present, and compassionate. We push ourselves daily so that our children can be the wonderful things someone else, and even we ourselves, can be inspired by. They will be someone's inspiration, because you allowed them to have you so selflessly.

  1. I love you for writing this! I have been feeling a lot of this lately, like I'm kind of a disappointment compared to my peers who work out side the home. But then I met a coworker of my husband's at a work event and she asked what I did, I said,"I just stay at home with my daughter." She smiled and said, "that's the most important job in the world!" I so look up to you as a SAHM! You make me feel good about what I'm doing and inspire me to be a more positive mother. Thanks for sharing your life with so many strangers. Xo

    1. Megan,

Your comment made me tear right up. I am so honored that I can help inspire mothers to love their role and be happy and positive in it. The struggle is real, and there is so much pressure on us women to "do more than just be a mom," but to me that is the greatest thing I will ever do, and I know it is where I need to thrive.

Thank you for also providing me with the reminder to stay positive, and for sending so much support and love my way! Ever grateful to you sweet girl!

  2. **Applause** Couldn't agree more, I'm find that it seems to be getting more common to be a stay at home mom...but maybe that's just because of the online community bringing it to my attention more!

    1. Liz,

We are so lucky to have things like mommy blogs and Instagram to help show us we are NOT alone in our decision to be SAHM. It is such a beautiful and challenging job, and one I support entirely.

Thank you for the love sweetpea.

Happy Wednesday to you and yours!

  3. "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." I remind myself of this daily because the way you raise your children will effect the world. I am the perfect mother for my son. We are a match made in Heaven.

    1. Nicole,

I love that quote. It could not be more true, and such an amazing reminder of the importance in the role of motherhood. Thank you for that beautiful reminder!

I am so flawed, and I believe my son is more perfect than me, so sometimes I have to just sit back and learn from him haha.

      All my love!

      xo
