Bake me a cake as fast as you can.

A Late Valentines Day Picture Dump & a Little Food for Thought
I wasn't always a baker (as I have said before), but like Jules from #parenthood (amazing show if you haven't watched it, it's a must see) when I stopped working I started trying new things.

Before being a stay-at-home-mom, I didn't really have time for developing my talents, and learning new things, mainly, because I was always on the go. Now, being a full time mom, I wouldn't say I have more time, because honestly, I have never had less time for myself, but I find that I am wanting to do things that can help educate my son, even if he is just watching.

Baking or cooking with him is literally a blast, he watches carefully as I speak how much I am measuring, or while I read the recipe. He stares as I open and close the fridge pointing to whatever the next ingredient is, and speak its word over and over again, hoping one day, he'll repeat it.

My role as a woman is ever evolving, and trying to roll with it is very difficult, but at the same time it is very fulfilling. I guess putting together a dinner consisting of homemade foods gives me the chance to teach my son about numbers and words. It isn't less rewarding then getting paid to sit in a cubicle, or working 12 hours shifts at a hospital, it's just different. And, just because I didn't get a check for it, doesn't mean it isn't valuable. Realistically, it is the most valuable thing I will ever do.

So preheat that oven, & make that chocolate cake!
